TUE, 28-09-10 : CREW CUT

I've always like guys with short & neat haircuts ... its no wonder that I fell for a military man, haha!

Now that I have a boy of my own, I will make sure his hair is neat too. Since Ryan has gotten over his phobia of hair salons & hair cuts, I recently achieved my "mission" to try out the crew cut for him.

To tell you the truth I would have cut it even shorter but the person cutting Ryan's hair advised me against it. Oh well, there's always next time!

MON, 27-09-10 : RYAN'S 1ST SELF-MADE LANTERN

To commemorate the recent Mid-Autumn Festival, Ryan & his buds in school, made paper lanterns.

He was carrying it around for days after that. Cute!

SUN, 26-09-10 : BUBBLES ANYONE?

Like any other kid (his age), Ryan loves blowing bubbles.

He's been asking for the bubble-blower that you can hang around the neck. So recently, Hubby managed to procure for him, one.

Ryan was as happy as clams.

Here he is ... eagerly waiting for Hubby, to go to his cousin's (Ayra) place to play bubbles. Nice!

See the blue bottle (of bubbles) atop his head.

SAT, 25-09-10 : SPIDERMAN?

Ryan newest interest is Spiderman & Batman.

Enugh said.

Guess boys will be boys, right?

Here's my boy with his (hand-me-down) Spidey T-shirt. Doesn't he look adorable?

Waiting for our breakfast, listening to the MP3 Player with his Daddy.

FRI, 24-09-10 : MORE PICS FROM RYAN

Further evidence that my boy is turning into a budding photographer ...? You be the judge.

THU, 23-09-10 : THE TINY PHTOGRAPHER

Wanna see the tiny photographer in our home?

Yep, this boy just loves snapping photos of anyone & anything. Lately he's been bugging me to "give" him the digicam to take pictures of everything.

Here are some of Ryan's "work".

Not too bad huh?

WED, 22-09-10 : SWEET SLUMBER

Ryan looks so peaceful when he sleeps.

He has kinda outgrown his cot recently (yes! he still sleeps in his old baby cot! shame on me!). He sleeps in a sorta funny way these days, my poor boy. I'm hoping to "upgrade" him to a kiddie bed pretty soon.

Meanwhile, enjoy the peace & quiet ... when Ryan sleeps. Ssssshhhhhh .....

P.S : Don't most parents love to capture their kids sleeping, on film? Or am I the odd one out? Haha!

TUE, 21-09-10 : FISHY BUSINESS

We have been to Qian Hu Fish Farm countless of times (too many to count). Here is one of our many trips there. Since I got all the dates mixed-up, here's one too.

These were taken on the weekend but its in the weekday spot  ; )

Ermm ... yes yes ... just enjoy the pics ok?

 Feeding the turtles.

 Feeding the kois.

Something interesting?

Crabs galore. Too cute to eat?

MON, 20-09-10 : KITE TIME

My boy loves to fly his kite.

Its just a simple cheap one that we bought in one of the neighbourhood shops yet he loves it to bits. I had wanted to upgrade buy him a new, better kite but Hubby refuses, saying that this one is still usable.

Oh well, better to save the money (now) untill the time comes, to really get a new stunning kite, huh?

 Standing around with his kite.

It was around noon time, the sun was scorching ... so we didn't stay long.

SUN, 19-09-10 : LEMON LIMEADE

For some time now, I have been making my own fruit juices : lemonade, limeade, passionfruit-ade, etc. the list is endless. I guess I do it coz I dislike (artificial-tasting) bottled syrup or cordials & I believe making my own homemade drinks is much healthier & better. Yes the drinks' got sugar (lots of it, I know) but that's it! It doesn't contain any preservatives & funny-named ingredients on the list. I like!

Its really very simple ... get the juice from the fruits of choice & boil down some rock sugar (with water). Mix with lots of ice &  lots of cold water.

Waalah! A relatively cheap, budget-friendly & refreshing drink for every one to enjoy!

SAT, 18-09-10 : FLOWERS MAKE ME HAPPY!

I didn't always like flowers but now I do.

I always try to buy some simple (ahem ... cheap) flowers to brighten my place during Hari Raya,it  just livens up the home.

Bright & red!

FRI, 17-09-10 : THE FAMILY CAME

As per our family tradition, my family came for a visit to our humble home for the Hari Raya celebrations. These were actually taken on the 11th of September. Oops!

 Just sitting around.

Just simple finger food, prepared by muah.

THU, 16-09-10 : A COMPARISON

Since looking through the Hari Raya photos for this year, I realised that I took a similar picture of my boys last year. And because we did not tailor-made or buy new outfits this year due to budget constraints, the photos were similar ... coz we were all in RED!

Just look at my boy. How he's grown in a year! I feel kinda nostalgic & happy at the same time.

P.S : Note that Ryan had a toy in his hand each time! Starscream for last year & The Batmobile this year. That's my boy for you!

WED, 15-09-10 : ALL MIXED UP!

I have a confession to make.

I got my dates mixed up, BIG TIME!

I was supposed to put up the Hari Raya photos (much earlier, on the 10th) but it just got lost in the maze of my never ending photos. Basically I got confuzzzed!

To make up for it, here are some (not just one) photos, taken during 2010's Hari Raya Celebrations. Enjoy!!!

Ryan, all hero-ed up! Doesn't he look handsome here?

Three's-A-Company ... all in red!

My sweet niece, Ayra ... posing with Ryan & my Hubby.

Look how enthusiatic my boy was!
Part of the family ... its hard to get the whole family in one photo these days!

TUE, 14-09-10 : ALL SMILES

This photo is eerily similar to a previous one of my son, building his blocks but I swear its different! I wanted to put it up coz I find his smile here very cute (& genuine ... not one of his many "forced-fake" smiles).

Yes! its true ... all mums think that their offspring are cute ... so sue me! ; )

MON, 13-09-10 : THINGS IN MY BAG

Another of Ryan's school work art stuff.

SUN, 12-09-10 : LAZY DINNER

Everyone's had one of those lazy days. Too lazy to cook but too lazy to go out & eat either. So what do we do when that happens? Raid the fridge & pantry for frozen stash or ready made stuff, haha! Shortcuts ... the way to go!!!

Yes, so "unhealthy" but so necessary sometimes ... to keep one's sanity. Besides, who's to say that the food we eat outside is much healthier than the stuff we cook up at home?!

As long as the tummy gets filled (on a budget) & everyone's happy right?

Bread with Homemade Garlic Herb Spread, (Frozen stash) Chicken Patty & scrambled Eggs sprinkled with Dried Parsley.

SAT, 11-09-10 : BAMBOO FLOWERS

I don't really know the name for this huge & tall plant but we call it "Bamboo" here. It does not flower! Well that's what I (naively) thought for the many years that I grew them in the big pot outside my home.

To my amazement, recently it started to flower. I wanted to document it here as I wasn't sure that anyone else has seen the flowers. I was hoping they they would bear some sort of fruit after that (wouldn't that be nice!) but they just withered away, that's all. The plant has flowered again since, so that's equally amazing to spot  ... coz it proved that it wasn't a fluke.

I will try to get a better picture of the whole plant another time. Sorry, the photos aren't very clear coz they were taken using my handphone.

Daylight & before it bloomed.

Night time & after it bloomed.

FRI. 10-09-10 : PATRIOTIC TOYS?

When we had our National Day last month, Hubby bought his son a small Singapore flag. Ryan loves that flag & can even say "Sing-ga-pour Flaag".

He decided to decorate his toys this way the other day. The toy below the flag is a green crocodile that was a gift from my pal, Jessie for Ryan's 1st birthday. Hey! at least it has lasted till now, more than a year and a half. Not bad for a rough & tumble boy huh?!

Ryan is also getting a lot more creative with his toys & playthings. Not that I'm complaining though ... just wondering where he gets his inspiration from.

THU, 9-09-10 : DIAPERS MADNESS

Yes, my boy ... at the grand old age of 3 plus, still wears diapers!

I am ashamed to admit this as a mother ... but its so very true. The diaper budget does not eat a lot into our budget (not as much as his milk formula thou) but it still makes a dent. In order to keep costs at a minimum, we use the budget diapers for day time & daily use. We use a premium one for night time & we use pull-ups for school or extended wear & outings. We save quite a lot by stocking up during sales & discounts or buying from across the border in  JB.

I wanted to put this up as a reminder to myself, WHEN my boy is finally out of his diapers & become a free willy diaperless. Sigh ... I hope that day will come VERY soon!!!

WED, 8-09-10 : ECHO ECHO

Family & friends by now would know that my boy's latest obsession is Ben 10 (its waning a little now). I used to dislike the cartoon but I have taken sort of a liking to it these days, due to Ryan's influence (haha).

I bought this figurine of "ECHO ECHO" for Ryan ... for being such a co-operative little boy during his 2nd haircut (he has been bugging me for this toy for a looong time). I should have put it up in the earlier entry but here it is. We did promise him a toy if he was good at the salon that one time but told him there will be no more rewards for future cuts.

So let's enjoy this pic for its "significance" ... yeah!

For a boy who got a new toy, he doesn't look very happy does he?

TUE, 7-09-10 : A GIANT MOTH

Ryan is into insects & creepy crawlies these days. So when I saw this gigantic moth below our block whilst waiting for Hubby to get the car, I can't help but snap it.

The pic is a big blur & you can't really tell that the moth is huge but I had to really zoom in (our digicam's not very good) coz it was atop the ceiling of our block's lobby.

Surprisingly, Ryan was afraid of the big moth ... I wonder why?

MON, 6-09-10 : IN DIAPERS

I got this cheeky photo of my boy, undressed ... save for his trusty diapers.

Cute huh?

SUN, 5-09-10 : WATCHING PRATAS

My boy looooves eating prata. He also loves watching the experts making these oily but delicious floury pancakes. Here's one of him, atop his Daddy.

Feels like he's on top pf the world doesn't it? He just loves being carried on Hubby's shoulders ... so this was a double whammy - Watching pratas being made. whilst being carried on Daddy's shoulders!

All in a day's work, huh?

SAT, 4-09-10 : RYAN'S HAND PRINTS

Here's one of my boy's handiwork - his hand prints.

I'm sure a lot of parents get lots of these masterpieces from their children all the time but as a first time parent who has a child (now) in playgroup, its my first time. It might bore most people but its a "beauty" to me (well, most of the time anyway).

Enjoy!!!

FRI, 3-09-10 : A RAINBOW IN THE SKY

I don't remember seeing many rainbows in my lifetime. The ones I always saw were either in the movies, books, magazines, photos or on TV. In real life, not so much.

The other day, I saw one whilst we were on the way to do our weekly grocery shopping. We were on the road, no time to stop the car. So please excuse the shaky & blur photos.

Although the pics ain't prize winning, I'm glad I managed to get it in print. Goes to show that rainbows DO EXIST in gloomy Singapore.

Now ... if only there was a rainbow in my life now. SIGH!!!

THU, 2-08-10 : BLUE RIDE

Ryan just loves his rides. When he saw this ride at the local pasar malam (night market), his eyes grew very big indeed.

Even before me & Hubby could discuss whether to let him take the ride, he was lamenting "Mummy! I want to take ride!".

"Ok ... but Daddy has to buy the ticket first, okay?"

Kids! ... they just don't understand that things are not free in this world!

My big blue ride
