TUE-31 AUG 10 : 1ST TEACHER'S DAY GIFTS

Tomorrow is Teacher's Day but its celebrated today in Singapore. This year its Ryan's 1st Teacher's Day so its rather monumental (haha! every mundane thing is monumental at our house!). As we are on a tight budget, buying an extravagant gift is out of the question but showing a little love & appreciation is always do-able on a budget.

I bought 2 sweet notebooks (wrapped in pink) at first but decided to add on a small pink "bouquet" of a teddy bear for fun. Here are pics of the pressies & of my Munchkin before he set out to school today.

To Teacher C & Teacher S, we know that managing 2 & three year olds everyday is never easy! Thanks for your love, kindness & patience with our hyper-active son for the past eight months. Thank you!

To my sis, who is also a teacher - Happy Teacher's Day! Enjoy your day off tomorrow!

Aww ... don't they look cute!

My boy ... with the lovely pink pressies.

MON-30 AUG 10 : A SUNSET VIEW

We went to a nearby Park recently & I managed to get a nice picture of the view overlooking the sea. As the sun was setting, it was really beautiful. I did not realise how magical it was until I downloaded the photo & see it for myself.

Serene & beautiful!

29 AUG 2010 - NEW TOYS

Going to Johor Bahru to shop affords us cheaper things. Sometimes we even get to see or buy stuff that we will not be able to find in Singapore. These 2 Transformers toys are some of those. I'm not sure if we sell them back home but we got them for cheaper in JB.

Ryan just loves his Transformers!

Starscream on the left & Ironhide on the right.

28 AUG 2010 - AN OCTOPUS AGAIN?!

When I downloaded this photo the the PC, Ryan was hanging around me. He said that it was an octopus! Haha! Of course its not!

Can you guess what it is?

This was actually taken in a rather new mall we ventured last weekend in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Its the Fasting Month now so the malls are decked in colourful Hari Raya festivities. The photo is actually of decorative ketupats, hanging from the upper level of the mall. Nice ... but Ryan thought it was an octopus ... with green tentacles.

My kid is very imaginative, isn't he?

27 AUG 2010 - PLAYING WITH MY BLOCKS

In honour of the "beautiful" giraffe in the previous entry, here's Ryan playing with the tub of building blocks. He's pretty much into them these days ... so that's a new development.

26 AUG 2010 - IT'S A GIRAFFE, MUMMY!

Ryan's creation : the bi-coloured giraffe.

Isn't it funny how children see things that we (adults) don't. How innocent they can be? How inspiring they can be? How some simple blocks of plastic can be a beautiful, majestic animal? They see the beauty in everything ...

Yep! Its a giraffe ... according to my beloved son.

Since we've been to our local Zoo & Bird Park recently, he's more into tigers, monkeys, crocodiles, penguins, giraffes, etc. As an animal lover myself, I am thrilled that my kid is Soooo into animals now. He's being very inquisitive & curious about all things animals (& insects ... & reptiles ... & creepy crawlies, YUCKS!).

Well, what's a mum to do .... but give ... lots of love & support right? (I still hate creepy crawlies! DOUBLE YUCKS!!!)

25 AUG 2010 - BUILDING THE BLOCKS

Ryan never used to like building blocks (I wished he did!) but recently he's taken a liking to them, big time! Every morning he will lug the tub of blocks out of his room & build his masterpieces.

Here he is ... busy at work.

24 AUG 2010 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DAD

In true to his fashion, my Dad celebrated his birthday with little fanfare.

I used to think that I'm a lot like my Mum & eventhough that's very true, I realised (as I got even older) that I am also a lot like my Dad  : )

Happy Birthday Dad!

23 AUG 2010 - A GAUDY RIDE

This was a ride that was actually quite entertaining -  it went up & down & "twirled" rather than just robotically moved front & back monotonously, like most rides.

Unfortunately, the ride turned up rather gaudy in the photo. Oh well, at least Ryan enjoyed the ride. That's all that matters right?

22 AUG 2010 - MY LITTLE BROWN BEAR

This is my kid's "masterpiece" - a brown bear.

Rather dashingly-cute, in a really messy kinda way ... haha!

21 AUG 2010 - DONUTS ANYONE?

I'm on a roll now ....

A (sugar-glaced) donut a day, keeps Ryan very happy.

When Ryan's happy, his parents are happy! Yipee!

19 AUG 2010 - HIS 2ND SALON HAIRCUT

My son, Ryan dislike haircuts. We used to trim his hair at home ... not because we were qualified hairdressers but because he screams whenever we try to give him a haircut. Recently, we managed to get him to the salon & these were taken a day earlier on the 19th.

Before the haircut, with his Daddy.

After the haircut, giving me his cheeky stance.

20 AUG 2010 - AN OCTOPUS A DAY ...

My boy made an octopus in school today. No ... it isn't the slimy kind, its the balloon with stringy-legs kind. So very "ugly", yet so cute! He was very proud of his octopus creation & played with it the whole day at home.

Happy camper indeed!

365 - AS IT'S WIDELY KNOWN

In the blog-sphere, a personal project of taking a photograph (or more) a day, for a whole year (ie. 365 days) & publishing it on a blog is termed - 365. It seemed rather intriguing ... yet daunting to me. The thought of taking a photo a day, seemed like a "chore" somehow ... yet it is a good opportunity for me to get my photography juices going. I guess it will force me to be creative & also accountable to myself. It would definitely be interesting!

I'm starting my 365 project in mid August ... yes! its crazy ... that's just me! So here goes nothing!
