SAT, 16-10-10 : SELETAR SEARCH

(Another long post. Apologies!)

Did you know that Singapore has two Reservoirs called Seletar, one in Upper & one in Lower Seletar. Haha ... I didn't either (but I was surely "educated" that fine day).

Recently, I read in a local blog about a water play area in the Seletar Reservoir & I asked Hubby if we can drop by to explore the place. My Ryan still doesn't enjoy water features much but it doesn't mean that we can't have a look see, right?

So off we went to the Upper Seletar Reservoir that Saturday morning. That place is sooo deserted & quiet. Some cars were parked in the carpark but there's not much happening there (but I found out later that there was much much more happening ... more about that later). Oh well, we found that the water feature was not located there (duh!) but (knowing me) ... I won't let my (by now, sweaty) family leave, without taking a few photos.

I spied a really old fashioned playground in a small corner there, so off we went.

Upper Seletar Reservoir

Around the creaky, rusty merry-go-round.

Doesn't he look happy?

Like Father, Like Son!

Playing hop-scotch.

A helping hand (or shoulder) from Daddy dearest!

Hubby, having a go too (ok, ok .. so I coerced him into it) ... so that Ryan can see how its supposed to be done, without any help.

Father & son looked happy that day.

 Lower Seletar Reservoir

This was an extremely gross sight! A thick layer of dead insect & an un-sightly cigarette butt, courtesy of the Ugly Singaporean (ok, ok ... it could have been anyone but its still an U-G-L-Y act).

 Very (architectually) nice!

Posing with Daddy!

Ryan wanted to snap photos of his parents, so they obliged (as usual!)

Overall, we had a fun time exploring the two reservoirs. The Upper Seletar Reservoir was a pretty serene, quiet place but we found out that there were also disgusting-cheapo people who go there specially, to do some "funny business". Yep! we saw at least 2 Singapore-plate cars that had passengers that were indulging in some extremely lewd adult activities in broad daylight. Luckily we were in the car (we were cruising the area, searching for the water park unsuccessfully) so my boy did not get to see anything remotely undesirable. Thank God! (imagine ... having to explain to my 3 year old what these shameless people are doing in broad daylight for all to see) !!!

I mean ... come on, people !!!

For goodness sake, don't be so c-h-e-a-p !!!

Get a room lah !!!

Its early Saturday morning, when people go for walks in parks & go jogging or practise taiji, don't you have any semblance of shame at all!

Shucks!

Public nuisance indeed!

The Lower Seletar Reservoir was definitely much nicer (& not X-rated!). I think it was recently renovated (don't know how recent though). We did find a water-park/area of sorts, for the kids to play but the area looked kinda slippery so I did not allow Ryan to explore it (haha ... not that he was vaguely interested). They also had people canoeing in big groups. I guess this Reservoir/park is a better place for families with younger children, although everyone can enjoy the fresh air & open space. One complaint though, the parking space is meagre (pathetic?), at most.

We will definitely go there again, this time with Ryan's tricycle in tow.
